The Sheet Music Collection

Norwegian and foreign prints from different genre and for various ensembles, mainly from the period 1800- 1950. Here one can find rare publications, a number of first editions and original manuscripts, with several central Norwegian composers represented. App. 25000 prints, includes specific collections such as:

The cinema collection
Music for entertainment orchestras from the council- and the private cinema orchestras in Trondheim. It gives an unique presentation of the repertoire played at the silent movies in Trondheim during the first decades of the 1900s.

The Tellefsen collection
Original manuscripts, sheet music prints and documents after the Norwegian composer and pianist Thomas Tellefsen (1823-74), who was one of Chopin's leading students in Paris.

The Lindemann/Krognes collection
Parts of the musical lending library of the Norwegian pianist Juliane Lindeman (1816-79). It reflects repertoire and music interest of the private music life of the mid 1800s.

The Warmuth collection
Music prints, protocols and documents after Carl Warmuths Music publishing firm in Christiania, once the largest in the country.

Loans
Parts of the collection are available for loan. App. 18000 titles are electronically registered. Inquiries, or visits to the sheet music archives to be directed to- and by appointment with the archive curator, Sissel Guttormsen.
